Before you read on
You don't have to do it alone. And a setback doesn't make you a failure — it's part of the journey. The hardest moment rarely comes in the therapy room, but at seven in the evening, at home.
That's exactly when CLEAR is there. Calm, without judgment, by your side.
No promise of a cure — but this is what you're working toward.
Day 1
The bravest step is to begin. That's exactly what you're doing right now.
Day 7
The first truly clear morning. More sleep, a calmer mind.
Day 30
A pride that carries you. You're proving to yourself that it's possible.
The science behind it
The effectiveness of alcohol treatment is well documented. The real problem is access: shame, waiting times, distance. CLEAR translates the most effective building blocks from research and clinical guidelines into a tool that's always with you.

The gap
The vast majority of those affected never receive guideline-based treatment. A smartphone, by contrast, is anonymous, instantly available and right there in the triggering moment — at seven in the evening, when the urge hits. That's exactly where CLEAR comes in.

Recognise triggers, restructure thought patterns, strengthen motivation and deliberately reward abstinence — based on CBT, motivational interviewing (MI) and contingency management.

Short check-ins capture mood and context; during an urge a theory-based exercise follows immediately, instead of a diary in hindsight. “Just-in-Time Adaptive Intervention” based on real-time self-monitoring (EMA).

Lasting connection is one of the strongest factors for long-term abstinence. CLEAR builds in community — pluralistic, whether in the spirit of the 12 steps or self-directed.

CLEAR explains options such as medication and, when needed, consistently directs you to medical help. A companion and guide — not a substitute for a doctor or therapy.
Effective programmes share recurring building blocks — and those are exactly CLEAR's feature checklist:
Note: CLEAR is a beta prototype and not a medical guideline. The cited evidence comes from the referenced literature (incl. SAMHSA, NIH/NCBI, Cochrane). More in the Disclaimer.
Four tools that work together — for everyday life and for the moment when things get hard.
Count your alcohol-free days, do your check-in and watch your progress grow.
One button, immediate help: the guided “Ride the wave” exercise gets you through the urge.
Your reasons, contacts and warning signs — at hand when you need them most.
From day 1 to your first year: every step you reach is made visible and honoured.

Your progress
Sober days, your mood over time and milestones from the first week to a whole year. Visible progress carries you through hard days — entirely without streak-shaming.

For the moment
Breathing, mindfulness and gentle reappraisal carry you through the critical minutes — until the wave passes. You don't have to get through it alone.

Gaining clarity
In your journal you note what triggers you and what helps. Over time a clear picture emerges — and that becomes strength for the next moment.
All your entries stay solely on your device. No server, no tracking, no selling of data.
Install CLEAR on your home screen. It's there, even without a connection.
No moralising, no judgment. A relapse is a learning step, not a failure.

The first day is the bravest decision. You don't have to make it alone.
